These are just some of the places we suggest you visit. They are the town’s tourist attractions. Each of them has their own history and unparalleled beauty. Believe us, you will like them!

Viewpoint of Salir do Porto

The viewpoint of Salir do Porto gives us an excellent view not only over the bay of São Martinho do Porto but also over the surrounding area.

Salir do Porto’s Dune

The dune at Salir do Porto is the biggest one in the country around 50 meters in height. However, it is said that it was once the highest in Europe.

Salir de Porto Customs-House Ruins

It was at these ruins on the shore of Salir do Porto that the Portuguese caravels used for the discoveries, during the reigns of D. Afonso V and D. João II, were built.

A Pocinha

Under the safety of the old Customs-House hides the ex-libris of Salir do Porto, the so-called Pocinha. Pocinha is a fresh water source that mysteriously springs up near the salt water and has great flow. Some say it springs up in the caves. It is famous for its medical properties.

Chapel of Santa Ana

One of the oldest constructions in the county, it may have been built in the 12th century. It served as a place of prayer and farewell for fishermen, where their relatives would go to see them leave and arrive. Until the beginning of the XX century processions were still made from Salir do Porto to this chapel, although, by then, it was already very degraded. It was entirely in ruins and today it has been restored to resemble the original as much as possible. The view from the chapel is spectacular, over the sea, the bay and the village of São Martinho do Porto.
